The Massachusetts School Building Authority and the City of Fitchburg have selected Saam to design the new Crocker Elementary School. Crocker opened in 1964 and serves students in pre-K to fourth grade. Saam’s scope will also include a study of a pre-K to eighth grade configuration on two potential sites.
Project planning has begun and Saam team members are working with the school, city, and community to determine priorities for Crocker. The first phase of work is a feasibility study that will establish whether to pursue renovations or an entirely new school building, as well as related costs.
Saam’s approach focuses on providing an equitable design that supports the academic and emotional needs of the students. Biophilic design principles will also be incorporated to provide building occupants with a strong connection to nature.
