The new Roger Wellington School houses 680 students, ranging from pre-school to grade 4. The school is composed of two wings with a shared core of communal spaces. Sustainable design elements include use of light shelves to maximize daylight and displacement ventilation in all classrooms.

The new Roger E. Wellington Elementary School was one of the early Ch. 149A projects at MSBA. The BIM model on the project was considered an exemplary collaboration tool in a public bid environment. The project sustainability goals are benchmarked by the California High Performance Schools rating system.
